Be a Water Champion – Water Week 2025

Ian

Water is life. We use it every single day — to drink, cook, clean, grow food, and even make our clothes. But how often do we stop to think about just how precious it really is?

Schools across the UK and around the world are coming together to participate in Water Week 2025 (2-8 June), a vibrant global campaign that highlights the importance of water in our lives and the growing threats it faces from climate change, pollution, and overuse. It aims to encourage children and young people to explore the importance of water and how we can protect it now and for the future.

This year's themes encourage shared creativity, real-world learning, and practical action, empowering young people aged 5–16 to become Water Champions in their schools and communities as they explore:

  • Why water matters
  • Water and climate change
  • Global water inequality
  • Water pollution
  • Sustainable water use
  • Nature-based solutions
  • Young changemakers
  • Future water careers

Join the Water Week Challenge!

We've teamed up with Cartoon Network Climate Champions to bring you a fun and impactful Water Week Challenge, designed to help everyone conserve and protect water.

There are 10 Water Week challenges pupils can complete as part of an inter-class competition – with the class with the most completed challenges at the end of Water Week winning a special prize (e.g. extra play time, a special privilege, etc.)

We've created an awesome homework challenge sheet with details of each challenge, along with a parentmail, to encourage support from families and carers.

To accept a challenge, pupils will need to visit the Cartoon Network Climate Champions website, locate their challenge, and tick the 'take the challenge' box.

We've provided fun classroom charts for pupils to record their completed challenges in school, allowing you to keep track of your class's progress. At the end of the week, the total number of completed challenges per class can be recorded on the school challenge chart to see which class wins!

Pupils can also mark their challenges as complete on the Cartoon Network Climate Champions website to indicate that they have joined other young people worldwide in taking action to protect water.

And if you send us your winning class's details, they could win 30 exclusive Water Week Teemill t-shirts with their names on! T&Cs apply.
