Pod school wins exciting visit from Captain Busta to raise awareness about recycling

Captain Busta's spaceship landed at a Pod school - Fair Oak Junior School in Hampshire - with children's TV presenter Maddie Moate.

The school won this exciting, extra-terrestrial visit for being one of the first 50 schools to sign up to the Home Recycling Challenge, a Recycle Now and Wastebuster campaign. Busta and Maddie held an action packed assembly, then carried out a recycling make-over on the whole school, with the help of the Eco-Team.

You can watch their action-packed day here.

Tina Gover from Fair Oak Junior School said, "Being a Pod school, we aim to inspire pupils and their families to build a more sustainable lifestyle, so when we saw Wastebuster's Home Recycling Challenge we thought this was an excellent way to promote these values to our school and the wider community."

Your school has a chance of having Maddie and Busta visit and winning £1000, if you sign up to the Home Recycling Challenge and have the highest percentage of children taking part.

A different Pod school, Well Lane Primary School in the Wirral, was chosen for an Eco-Schools case study. The case study discusses how taking part in the Home Recycling Challenge has helped them gain evidence towards their next Eco-Schools Award - read all about it here
