Waste Week 2025: Fighting Food Waste, One Recipe at a Time
Waste Week 2025 is all about reducing food waste, and we're inviting your pupils to join by sharing their creative leftover food recipes!
Food waste is a pressing issue, with over 10 million tonnes of edible food discarded from UK homes each year. This waste not only impacts our wallets but is also a major contributor to climate change. To help tackle the problem, Waste Week 2025 is encouraging pupils, teachers, and families to think differently about the food they throw away and how they can turn leftovers into delicious new dishes.
By submitting your pupils' favourite leftover recipes, along with photos and stories, they'll have the chance to feature in the NEW Wastebusters Love Food Love Your Planet Cookbook. This community cookbook aims to inspire everyone to get creative in the kitchen and find new ways to enjoy food that might otherwise go to waste. Wastebuster's previous cookbook, created from contributions during Waste Week 2021, showcased inspiring recipes by schoolchildren who demonstrated that small changes can make a big difference. Check out the cookbook here.
