Waste assembly

This week our Eco Committee led two assemblies to teach our Prep and Pre-Prep children about Waste Week. They acted out a sketch: half of the group demonstrated the diary of William Wastenot, while the other half showed the diary of William Wastealot. The children were able to compare the waste produced by both characters and how it was dealt with. As part of the assembly, the children were shown how much food had been left over from the previous day's dinner - it weighed 6.75 kg and the children were surprised how much there was and how heavy it felt.

Big Bumblebee Discovery

We are taking part in the Big Bumblebee Discovery. We already have a lavender in our school garden, but have also received one from The Pod. While we have been waiting for this one to come into flower, we have observed lots of bumblebees in the school garden, but we decided to wait until it was flowering before we started the experiment. As we are slightly above sea level, our temperature may be slightly cooler, which sometimes delays plants flowering. We have held three observations so far, and seen bees on each observation.
