Big School's Birdwatch 2020

On Wednesday 5th February, the Garlinge Eco Reps took part in the Big School’s Birdwatch campaign by the RSPB. We went to a quiet part of the school so that we could observe birds peacefully and this is what we saw: 2 blackbirds 2 house sparrows 1 carrion crow 1 magpie 3 herring gulls 10 wood pigeons We talked about how important it is to give our nature a helping hand and the types of foods we can give to birds. We really enjoyed ticking off the birds that we saw and it gave us the opportunity to talk about all of the birds we see at school, such as our beautiful robins, jays, goldfinches, chaffinches and woodpeckers. We were disappointed that these regular visitors didn’t put in an appearance, however we understand that they were probably busy finding food elsewhere.
