Calling all Water Champions – are you ready for the Water Week Challenge?

Ian

Are you ready to make a splash? We've teamed up with Cartoon Network Climate Champions to bring you an exciting Water Week Challenge — packed with fun activities that will help protect one of our planet's most precious resources: WATER!

It's time to compete, take action, and become true WATER CHAMPIONS. The mission? Your pupils must complete as many water-saving challenges as they can.

There are 10 awesome challenges to choose from. The class that completes the most challenges by the end of Water Week wins a special school chosen prize — think extra playtime, cool classroom privileges, or something even better! We've provided a special Water Week Climate Champions certificate – so everyone gets rewards for taking part too.

Choose from:

  1. Do Good With Your Crew - Start a clean-up squad to keep your school grounds litter-free.
  2. H-2-Know - Discover where your tap water comes from — and what might put it at risk.
  3. Stop the Drip - Check taps at home or school — are they leaking? Help get them fixed!
  4. The Great Shower Race - Challenge yourself to finish your shower in under 5 minutes.
  5. Toothbrush Hero - Switch off the tap while brushing those pearly whites.
  6. If It's Yellow, Let It Mellow - Chat with your family about how to save water when flushing.
  7. Waterway Wonders - Pick up litter (safely!) near local drains or rivers — stop it from polluting water.
  8. Be Drain Safe - Make sure things like oil or wipes don't go down the toilet or sink — yuck!
  9. Skip the Dishes - Help wash up the water-wise way: scrape first, rinse smart!
  10. Cool Your Clothes - Ask your grown-ups to wash clothes at lower temperatures to save water and energy.

How it works

  1. Introduce Water Week using the Assembly provided in the campaign pack.
  2. Use the classroom presentation to introduce the Water Week Challenge to your class.
  3. Display your classroom posters with the challenge details and your class chart to record completed challenges.
  4. Children choose five (or more) challenges to complete.
  5. Send home the parentmail and homework challenge sheet.
  6. Children visit the Cartoon Network Climate Champions website to tick 'Take the Challenge' for each one they have chosen.
  7. When they have completed a challenge, they record it on the colourful classroom chart, and they mark it as complete on the Cartoon Network Climate Champions website
  8. Record your final class tally at the end of the week and add your class's total to the school chart to see which class has completed the most challenges and won a prize!
