It's Give and Gain day!
Friday 20 May is Business in the Community's Give and Gain Day.
It's a day to celebrate employee volunteering, and highlight the skills that people can gain through giving their time. It also shows how much the skills gained by young people through volunteering are valued by future employees.
Head of Education and Skills at EDF Energy Darren Towers said: "Give and Gain Day is a great opportunity to remind ourselves of the importance of volunteering. We value volunteering when it's done by employees. It can help them develop skills and achieve their full potential while they are working as a force for good in the community. And we value volunteering when it's done by young people who are our potential future workforce. It builds their employability skills, helps to develop their character and connects them to their local communities."
The Pod's Helping Hands campaign is designed to help you help young people into volunteering. There are downloadable resources including a presentation to introduce the topic, a getting started guide and more. Plus when you sign up we'll send you a poster pack to help spread the message, and if you share your story with other schools on the Pod's Inspiration Board we'll send you a medal for the group and certificate for everyone who took part.
The Pod's Helping Hands campaign is run in support of #iwill, a national campaign that aims to make social action part of life for as many 10 to 20 year-olds as possible by the year 2020.
