Durham County Council
Durham County Council has supported Eco-Schools activity since it was launched to schools in the County in 1998. Since that time we have run termly Eco-Schools Forums which meet in schools across the County focussing on a particular theme. In addition we provide direct in school support through the School Carbon Reduction Programme delivered by OASES . This is working with over 250 schools in the County providing in school advice and support to reduce their energy use. In addition there’s a broad range of teacher CPD offered through the themes of sustainability; learning outside the classroom and global learning.
In addition, litter and waste support is provided by the Pride Team. Last year a new Waste Advice and Guidance for Schools (WAGS) online resource was developed by the Strategic Waste Team with Rich Hurst.
