EDF Energy Education
EDF Energy is working hard to ensure that sustainability is at the very heart of the way we do business
In 2008 EDF Energy launched the Pod to help us meet one of our sustainability commitments – to engage 2.5 million children in the sustainable use of energy by 2012. This target was reached two years ahead of schedule at the end of 2010. The Pod has won awards from ‘Business in the Community’ and is now the largest programme of its type, with over 22,000 schools in 56 countries having registered to date.
EDF Energy Education – Inspiring the next generation
We are immensely proud of our education programmes. In addition to the Pod we have our Pretty Curious Campaign, Inspire Programme, Visitor Centre tours and a team of EDF Energy employees who act as STEM volunteers and go into schools near to our offices. In 2017 we were sponsors of the TES teaching awards – in the maths teacher of the year category.
90% of teachers surveyed in 2016 felt that energy companies have a responsibility to help young people learn about energy issues
Vincent de Rivaz (former) Chief Executive Officer of EDF Energy
"As we ask ourselves what kind of planet we are leaving our children, so we must also ask what kind of children we are leaving our planet. This is a human challenge not just a technical one. By acting now and acting together, we can rise to the challenge and tackle climate change head-on."
